Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in a reply to a query on Twitter, said that they are monitoring the weather situation and will take an appropriate decision to close schools tomorrow or not.
The ministry urged everyone to look out for the announcement from official sources.
Hamad Lahdan Al Muhannadi, Deputy President of Central Municipal Council (CMC), had asked
Qatar Meteorology Department and Ministry of Education of the weather situations and precautionary measures.
“We hope Qatar Meteorology will inform the Ministry of Education if this rain will continue until Sunday to take precautions tomorrow, in order to protect the safety of students,” he queried.
To this, the Ministry replied that “the safety of our students is a priority for us and for all the competent authorities. The situation is evaluated in coordination with them. The appropriate decision will be announced through our official channels.”
Meanwhile, the weather department said that “forecast for rains continue on Sunday and include most areas of the country and all competent authorities are informed.
Some Twitter users were seen urging ministry to take the decision soon and not to leave it to late night.
