Drones to monitor wildlife violations soon

The Ministry of Municipalities and Environment revealed that it is planning to use drones, called the Flying Environmental Inspector, to monitor violations in farms, green lands and pastures.

The report, published in Al-Sharq newspaper, said that the Department of Wildlife protection at the Ministry has been on a mission to update the systems in various areas of the country.

The department announced the introduction of the latest high tech inspection techniques as part of the efforts of the Ministry to develop new work processes and dispense with the current paper system.

The Flying Environmental Inspector uses the same technology of unmanned aircraft and makes monitoring violations easier. The ministry is currently coordinating with competent authorities in the State to complete some of the requirements.

They pointed out that the inspectors of the units monitor various environmental violations in pastures like the dumping of waste, entry of vehicles, especially during rain, as well as cutting trees and tampering with the grass.
